Three twinnings
Vannes is twinned with three cities: Mons in Belgium,
Cuxhaven in Germany and Fareham in Great Britain. The aim of these
twinnings is most of all the exchange of people and activities:
exchanges for schools, students, cultural and sportive associations,
economic world representatives.

Being the capital of the Hainaut province, Mons is an important
business centre. The region of Mons includes 91,473 inhabitants.
The twinning was signed in 1952.

Cuxhaven is situated in the Lower Saxony province, in the foreland
of the peninsula that the Elbe and the Waser estuaries cut in the
North Sea. The town, which includes 55,000 inhabitants, is in fact
Hamburg’s outer harbour. The city lives on tourism and fishing.
The twinning was signed in 1963.

Situated in the Hampshire County in the South of England, Fareham
stretches itself out between the harbour of Portsmouth and Southampton
opposite the Isle of Wight. Including its district, the population
of Fareham represents 92,000 inhabitants. The twinning was signed
in 1967.
